I truly believe in the power of community. I have learned so many life "hacks" over the years, and hope we can benefit from each other's experience and insight here.
For example, back when I paid for cable, I only paid the "teaser" rate offered to new customers. Back then it was Time Warner Cable, and at the end of the year when my 49.99 rate expired, I would call back and ask for the "Customer Retention" department It took me a year to figure that one out, but when you threaten to cut the cord, they forward you to the "Customer Retention" department and offer you the deal they have going for new customers. I did this for 5 straight years, before they called my bluff. So I switched to the teaser rate for Satellite TV (Direct TV). I rinsed and repeated for a few years until they would no longer offer the teaser rate. So, we started streaming, picking up Disney+ for a month or two so my kids could watch Hamilton a thousand times, then cut it off. We turned it back on for a month to binge watch Ted Lasso a summer ago.
It appears to me that for the streaming services (we use Amazon Prime, Netflix, and the free stuff on Roku), you can use them for periods at a time to serve your needs, THEN SHUT THEM DOWN, until you want them again.
What do y'all do for your video entertainment?
